Some of you may know that recently our family had a huge life change–we packed up our little family and moved across the country from Utah to Missouri! Its been quite an adventure for us–my husband starting graduate school, setting up a new (well, new to us!) house and settling into a new city. We love it here and have made some wonderful new friends that we love.
Our sweet little house is the biggest home we’ve ever lived in and we love being able to spread out a little more than our previous student-apartments allowed us to! And our kids have had so much fun chasing each other around and making more messes than I can count 😉
Our home is definitely not new…!
It was built in the 1970’s and has some definite quirks about it 😉 But thankfully, some of the previous owners have done some updates. Our upstairs bathroom was retiled at some point and thankfully they chose a nice, neutral white! Even though the square shape of the tile dates it, it’s definitely still workable.
One of the hard things about renting, (at least for me, who always has decorating on the brain!) is that you can’t make all the changes you wish you could. BUT, there is hope!! There are ways to update, upscale and arrange things to make a room feel stylish and more YOU.
First stop…our Easy Bathroom Update!
Our bathroom upstairs is split, with the vanity on one side, and then, through the door, the toilet and shower. It’s teeny, tiny in there! So, for some storage I added a shelf above the toilet. It’s been nice to have extra toilet paper within reach 😉
I’ll admit it…I’m a sucker for gallery walls!
Even if it’s a tiny one! So I had to add one above the toilet 😉 I loved these free printables I found! I like the modern and fun feel they have. (I have the links to each of them at the bottom of the page.)
Even though this may not be my dream bathroom, I actually like it! This easy bathroom update was super quick-done in an hour! And now when I walk by the bathroom, I don’t cringe looking at what’s in there and at what I wish we could change. Win – win!
Stay tuned for more easy updates we’ve done around the house!
